Q: How does being a mentor impact you personally and professionally? And why is it crucial in leadership and personal development?

TJ: Mentoring affects me personally because pouring positivity into others has always been part of my life’s purpose. Mentoring is crucial in leadership because the foundational roles you play in mentoring should be the same ones you play to be an effective leader. Being a positive role model and nurturing possibilities are all crucial to an effective leader.

Q: Can you share a specific story of how mentoring a young woman through Precious Me Inc. significantly impacted her life?

TJ: Each year, at our annual Beyond Beauty Reveal, I have an opportunity to work with all the mentees. The best part of mentoring for me is seeing them blossom and gain confidence as they walk down the runway or hit the stage for their introductory dance.

Q: In what ways do you believe mentoring contributes to building stronger, more virtuous communities?

TJ: Mentoring builds stronger communities because it allows mentees to cultivate relationships with others and provide acts of service within the community.

Q: Based on your experiences, what advice would you give other women considering becoming mentors, especially in making a significant difference in others’ lives?

TJ: I highly recommend this experience to any woman considering being a mentor. Nurturing another young lady and being another friend in her life can help both you and your mentee grow.
