Fall isn’t typically the time we think of new beginnings – spring, entering a new year, sure, but now, notsomuch. However…that is all I have had on my mind these days! After having taken a little sabbatical from blogging, I am BACK, so this is a fresh start. In addition, I recently began, not just a new job, but a new career. Then, our family just found out that new life is coming by way of a grandbaby girl. There are also a myriad of new challenges that our family is facing. Many of you can relate to these things as you embark on your own journeys.
For most, school is back in session, work is ramping up, church programs are all returning to full swing, and FOOTBALL is beginning again. (Can I get a “Hallelujah!”) It’s GO TIME! The song “Let’s Get it Started” or “Danger Zone” plays in my head as I think about hopping out of bed each day.
The Bible challenges us as believers to remember a few things as we roll up our sleeves and go to work:
Throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Hebrews 12: 1-2
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing, and perfect will. Romans 12:2
Our biggest task – remember that Moses told the Israelites at the edge of the Red Sea – water in front, enemies behind, their freedom and families surrounding them: Do not be afraid, the Lord will fight for you. Then Lord told Moses: Tell the people to move on, and I will gain glory. (Paraphrased from Exodus 14:13-17)
In this season of newness, whatever that looks like for you, let’s focus on, trust in, and submit to our mighty God so that HE receives the ultimate glory!
Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it ALL for the glory of God. I Corinthians 10:31
